75 Vega Wagon Build 3.3.2021

Postby Low_Bridge » Thu Mar 04, 2021 11:36 am

I've always wanted a Vega & yesterday I brought this home. Well to my office till the I sell a car out of my garage at home.

I'd say sh'e's in good to fair condition.

My thoughts are to build a 250+ hp street car & toy with some bracket racing again.

Originally an automatic no option car from what I can tell. It came with 5 lug upgrade & supposedly a S10 rear.

A. Thoughts on a 4.3 with a 700r4? other wise I have a 327 & 400 (no tranny yet)

My first order of business is to get some tires & rims to get the low stance Iike.

Then clean out the welds were some "guy" just welded in the mounts.

Find options on a replacement radiator support as there is some cancer near where the battery must of been.

Thanks ~

oh yes & make my pictures smaller next time....

Welcome to the best H-Body resource on the net, Low_Bridge! Looks like a nice starting place for your project. Sounds like you have a workable plan. Good luck and keep us in the loop Please. A THM350 is one of the easiest bolt in transmissions A Saginaw 4SP. or a Glide are the other easy ones, but the THM350 is easily the most affordable with support choices, the Saginaw will be fine(ish) @ 250HP, the glide support seems to have migrated to all out race, but they built millions of each of them so not a compete parts desert. The turbo 400 is a larger trans and as I recall doesn't fit without a BFH, but a super well supported and a great HD transmission choice. Try some reading at http://h-body.org/ most all swaps are listed here with some very helpful tips! Harry
I'm not a hoarder I'm a preservationist 78 Monza Spyder (~Soon(ish +/- I guess) To Be 2+2 with Spoilers)

Have all but decided the Sanderson CC13-P are the way to go _ BTW what is the difference between CC13-P & CC-13?

I've read read solid motor mounts are required; Does anyone have part numbers for the front motor mounts & Frame mounts or do I buy stock set up and weld them up?

Also Oil Pan ~ This one: ATP Automotive Graywerks 103036 : https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 5562&jsn=8
It lists it for a 77 Monza V8 ~ Should it be good to go with smaller cube Chevy V8's?

Thanks!

The CC13-P is plain unpainted, -C is ceramic coated.
On V8monza.com there are other versions like angle plug,Vortec, raised port, D port
no go on Rock auto oil pan, they assume the pan fits SBC that it fits a Monza.
If your motor has a one piece rear main seal or a passenger side dipstick then Kevin Racing has V8 Vega oil pans.
All the other oil pans are for the 79 and older blocks with the driver side dipstick and 2 piece rear main seal.
Power by ACE has V8 Vega conversion frame mounts that do not require the factory Monza V8
Frame plates, the ACE frame mounts take the newer 70’s motor mounts where the bolts run front to rear
And those mounts come in solid steel from Moroso etc..

Thanks for the leads ~

It's the manufacturer / vendor being a squid on what they sell? re:pan ~

However when will a Monza Factory v8 oil pan work when using 70's 2 piece seal motors in my 75 Vega wagon?

Thanks!
