shifter problems

If it is the factory shifter, the nylon
"anti-vibe" bushings are shot, resulting in too much slop.they
can be replaced, or upgraded w/ metal bearings. If you
go w/ a Hurst shifter(you prob have a Saginaw
4-spd),the throws will be shorter and you may end up
trashing the sychroes, breaking a U-joint or the rear
end,if you power shift.In other words,be careful.Check
Summit and Jeg's for applications for your ride.Hope
this helps,Frank.
