Does anyone know exactly what T-Type stands for and what it means? Is there anything special about that kind of car?

Depends on what Skyhawks you are talking about.
for the early, '75-80', 'Hawks it is none existant to
the best of my knowledge. On the mid 80's Hawks the
'T-Type' Skyhawk was basically little brother to the Buick
Regal T-types which were essentially luxo Grand Nats,
the 'T-Type' indicating either 'Turbo' or 'Touring' I
am not sure which. I do know that there were mid
80's Skyhawks made with 2.0 liter turbo charged 4
cylinders in them, and man did they move. I think these
were the 'T-type' that you are talking about.

Turbo, The T-Type Regals were the forerunners of the Grand National (No intercoolers) and the T-Type Skyhawk was its 4 cylinder littler brother.
