The Buick V6 produced between 1975 and 1978 had a
odd fire sequence. A normal V8 fires a cylinder every
90 degrees of crankshaft rotation. The V6 natural
firing sequence is every 60 degrees. The Buick V6 is a
90 degree block therefor Buick had to fire the
engine in a sequence of 90 and 120 degrees due to the
common rod throws. In 1977 to present the crank throws
for the rods wer split 15 degrees creating a true 90
degree firing sequence.

Mike,
Sorry I haven't been monitoring this
site as well as I should. Kenne-Bell is one of the
premier Buick V6 aftermarket providers. Also Comp Cams,
Edelbrock, Holley, and TA Performance have parts for V6s.
Depending on what heads you have, I would recommend the
Kenne-Bell MK1 manifold and a 390 cfm Holley 4 barrel and a
nice cam from Comp-Cams. Finding headers may be a bit
difficult, I think Hooker still makes some and Don Hardy may
(not sure on that one). Hedman used to make a V6
hedder (their spelling) but I think they've discontinued
it. The Kenne-Bell header, if they still make it
won't work with stock frame and motor mounts. Any other
advice or questions contact me direct. My e-mail is in
my profile.
Good luck.

hedman still make headers for the V6 i got a set
for my car they do fit a bit tight. i have the same
manifold but i am running a 600cfm carter AFB four barel,
and it runs extremly well, but then again i have done
almost everything to the moter i can. i am using the
higher port heads, with larger falves, ported and
polished as far as they can go, wild wild cam,.... ect.
also it your going to hop the moter up much to put in
a Kenne-bell high volume, high presser oil pump and
a oil presser bost plat.

John:

What is the part number for your Hedman Headers?

Can't find a listing for a 231 in either a Skyhawk or Monza on their web site.

Thanks
Paul
