Gentlemen, Here is something for you all. YOU DO NOT NEED THE FAST
IDLE VALVE! The fast idle solenoid controls the cold idle cycling. I
have four CV's which run and do not have FIV's on them. Two are
Weber equipped, so two do not count, but the other two are EFI
equipped, and yes, they both cycle at cold idle, then when the
engine warms up, they drop to warm idle settings. I just plugged up
the side of the heads, and away I went. It is my opinion that the
fast idle valve is reduntant, and I see no use for it. Al, go ahead
and take yours out, and throw it away, you ahve proven to yourself
you don't need it. Now, if someone can tell me what the FIV does,
and why I need it for EFI, not theoretically but in practical
everyday use, then maybe I 'll put it back on my daily driver. Now,
just for those that do not believe me, plug the FIV, and then start
the car, then pop the hood, and pull either the black or green wire
from the FIS, and the computer will be "tricked" into thinking the
engine is warm. The idle will drop when the wire is pulled.
Just my two cents worth.
Later,
John J. Cowall
