REV limiter problem

Clark, I would imagine you are right in guessing there should be some
sort of backfire if it was ignition related. However, you have ruled
out fuel flow, (right now, that seems to be the only thing one can
rule out.) I still suspect it has something to do with the timing. It
is possible your distributor may be off by a tooth, I have no way how
to guess this would happen, but the symptoms described are very
similar to the problem I had two years ago on 0999. This si when I
realized the cam timing was off. Right now, if it was my car, I would
start from the top. Re-time the car to 12 degrees. Pull the cap off
the distributor, and verify that the rotor is pointing at the # 1
cylinder, then tighten the distributor, and see if the problem still
persists. Are you positive the timing marks for the distributor lined
up when all the other points were set to 0 degrees. If so, check
another EFI computer. Just to verify, this is a simple unplug yours,
set the other in the passenger floor, plug in and drive. You do not
even have to pull the original computer out. Other wise you got me
stumped. It may be the exhaust, but I doubt it.
Good Luck, Keep Us Informed,
Later,
John J. Cowall
