In trying to decide what to do about a radiator for Crispy Critter,
which is slowly going back together (recently sprayed the sandblasted
engine compartment with Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator followed by a
topcoat of Eastwood's Underhood Black), I noticed in the local yellow
pages "Online pricing at www.radiator.com". For the heck of it I
checked it out, believing that new replacement radiators were no
longer being made for our cars.

To my surprise, I found a listing for a "1976 Chevrolet Vega 2.0L,
122ci L-4 Manual". It is advertised as an "OEM Equivalent
Replacement Radiator" and the page further states: "This brand new
radiator meets or beats original equipment specifications for fit and
quality. It will match or exceed the cooling capacity of your
vehicle's original radiator and is guaranteed to fit. The quality is
backed by a Lifetime Warranty."

This radiator is available for overnight delivery, and is priced at
$219 which includes shipping. I read through the long list of
testimonials and I was impressed. According to their Mission
Statement, they have received feedback from over 20,000 customers!
The claim to be the largest radiator distributor in the country and
to have over 60,000 radiators and AC condensors in stock!

I haven't decided what to do. I'm taking the radiator from the
Cosworth I am dismantling to a local radiator shop at lunch today to
see what they have to say. This radiator looks to be in good
condition by outward appearance, but there is a lot of corrosion at
the ends of the tubes when I look inside the filler neck.

If anybody decides to order one of these radiators from Radiator.com,
let us all know. I'll let you know what I decide.

Mark
