Good Afternoon!
I have a nice salvage yard fuel filler neck i'd like to re-finish
and put on 2711 as the one i have is pretty grungy. What sort of
paint coating or treatment would you guys suggest? Thanks in advance
for your help!

Cliff Payne, CV2711

Painting coating or treating a fuel filler neck?

Almost any organic coating is either going to be worn away by abrasion
from the fuel filler nozzles or eventually attacked by the gasoline.

My recommendation would be to take it to a plating shop, have it
pickled in acid to derust it, then zinc plated. They usually change
by the pound and have a minimum charge, but you might be able to find
a place that will throw it into another lot for a nominal charge or
maybe even do it for free if you show them pictures of your vintage
car and beg. ;)

The other alternative is to seek out one of those processes used to
restore fuel tanks. They are some kind of coating and some radiator
shops do this work. I've heard mixed results on these coating
processes, but if you've got a badly rusted fuel tank and can't buy a
replacment, it appears to be about the only game in town.
