Well, a converter should get you to the hundred dollars. CA also has
some repair cost limits, but it only gets you a waiver to the next
test, and if the car has evidence of tampering, there is no limit.
I went to get my car tested at the local shop that can't pretest.
After doing some tuning yesterday I concluded that the car is probably
squeaky clean, and I don't need to pretest.
His machine was down, so I'll have to keep checking with him this week
to see when it's working again. At this point I am anxious to get it
done and get it behind me.
