PF454 oil filter

A week or two ago I discussed the AC Delco PF454 oil filter. It is a
substitute for the PF25 OEM filter for the CV (and 140 Vega engines).
The advantage of this filter is that it has an anti-drain back valve
that will prevent oil drainback from the high horizontal position of
the filter. In addition, it is shorter than the PF25 and will fit the
restricted clearance to the steering gear housing because of the oil
cooler adapter on my car. I have been using a Purolator 20049 (direct
cross reference from the PF25) for the past 22 years because it is the
only filter I found that fit with some clearance.

I was at my local Pep Boys yesterday and noticed that they have PF454s
in stock, and I verified that it has an anti-drain backe valve. It is
a bit over an inch shorter than the PF25 and a little less than an
inch shorter than the Purolator. The PF454 is priced at $3.99 each,
same as the PF25.

Being as how a primary application is the 8.1L medium duty gasoline
engine used in commercial trucks, I'm sure it has plenty of filter
performance and capacity for a two-liter engine.

For my next annual oil change on the CV this spring, I'll be
installing a PF454.
