Air Box

I remember seeing an air box at the KY round-up. I beleive it was
Doug Walliford. He moved the battery to the rear of the car, and
drew air from the bumper area. Mark, I think the HP lost is 1 per
an increase of 10 degrees F. Personally, I don't have an intake
noise like some of the tuner Hondas today, so I'm thinking I don't
have enough breatability in my intake. I'm running 2 K&N cone
filters off the throttle body. My dad and I were looking into
designing a carbon fibre box that sort of looks like the Hutton air
cleaner for the carb set up.

If someone were to make a box with a remote scoop, I noticed there
was sheet metal that could be cut just left of the battery. The
NASCAR truck series had two 3 inch hoses that got air from the
grill, but they just changed them to 2 inches in dia. The teams
were saying how they lost 60HP. I know that those are highly tuned
engines, but still goes to show how much hp you can make off an
intake.
