verify info on fuel pumps

I start getting some fuel pump whining at something below 3/4s tank.
My recollection is that it's the hi-pressure pump and searching the
archives one inexpensive alternative is the #E8228 AIRTEX pump. Can
someone confirm and/or add some info to this? Thanks!!

Norm:

Tips and Tricks has a list of available pumps on page 134. But the
best price appears to be for a rebuilt pump from Brett Instrument.
They are listed in the CVM.

That said, check:

Airtex E8228 (described as functional but not the correct part)

Carter P74015 (Canada)
