Just wandering if anyone has information on the water pump tool
required for belt replacment. Is there any other way of installing
the cam belt with out this tool?

If not, does anyone know were I can locate one?

Thanks,

Bob, the latest CVOA newsletter has special Cosworth tools, including
the one you need, listed for sale by Sonny Rossi. Look on the bottom
of page 22. The tool you need is the middle one and is a
reproduction of the original. I have never used the reproduction
before, so I cannot vouch for it.
Sonny, if my memory serves me, was at the 1996 (Houston) CVOA
Roundup with his Cosworth-engined hot rod roadster. He is a "little
person" and had a dwarf woman with him that may have been his wife.
I believe he lives in the Houston area.
Of course, if you are not a CVOA member, then, shame on you.
The Club is vital to keeping your Cosworth running properly.

Watrer Pump Tool

Bob:

The tools may still be available from Kent Moore. You should check.

Sonni is a good source, though I don't know if he is selling
individual tools. Knowing a bit about his reputation as a machinist,
I would not have any qualms about purchasing a tool from him.

Nobody has ever said so, but you might check K&D to see if they make
a tool.

You can replace the cam belt without loosening the water pump. There
was a Tech Tip in the CVM many years ago, and you can probably find
it by looking at the CVM Article Index created by Brian Harpst at the
www.cosworthvega.com website.

Finally, if you have normal shop tools plus a welder, you can easily
(?) make your own. Both EricC and I have made them. I can send you
a photo of the one I made for Brian Wetrich if you like; I
believe Eric has posted his in the Photos section of this Yahoo site.

Mark,

Thanks for the info. If you could send a drawing our photo of the
tool, I would be greatly appreciated. I also, I have to show my
ignorance,as i am not familiar with K&D.

Thanks,

I will vouch for the tool Mark fabbed up for me. It worked great.
Basically it's a bolt, don't remember the size but was slightly
bigger than than the hole it goes into on the block, that was long
enough that we cut the threads off and still had the correct length
as compared to the original that Mark had. Mark then cut a length of
steel the correct thickness and witdh. He ground the one end so it
would fit against the side of the bolt and welded it on. He finished
by grinding it to the correct length. I've used it and it works
great.
