That sounds like a good setup. You can do even better by shortening the torque are a bit to gain more anti-squat. Attach it to a crossmember, not the transmission.

Thats the setup I'm using. I fabbed a new
crossmember with a driveshaft loop just behind the front
u-joint on my 77 Monza. To this I made an adjustable
front mounting point for the new tubuler torque
arm.Look in any car mag that has ads for aftermarket
torque arms for 82 and up Camaros and that is what I
built.Simple, strong and adjustable for different traction
conditions.
For pics look up my link in my profile.

When I was racing, I used to adapt 1968-1972
Chevrolet Truck "Swing Arm" suspension to the roll
cage/rear subframe of my cars with a Dana 60 Differential.

I had a 1964 Mercury Comet that ran a 9.90 index
with this suspension system. It was fantastic for drag
racing and it had no upper control arms
whatsoever.

I don't think this setup would be practical (from
a size standpoint) on a Vega, but I would use it if
it wasn't so damn much work...Robert

No T.J. ,
the Z28 stuff wont work.
And who
says s10 stuff wont work it s the same stuff the Grand
National turbo boys stop with ,just up grade the
pads.
TRUST ME, my 77 out stopped a Z06 'vette and now that
guy is looking for a good hbody out west (more money
than smarts sometimes)but wont ask in here.
You do
not want to try to do something with camaro stuff WAY
to much adapting and mods.
With bob gumms
adapters and parts list you can slap them on in about 2
hrs if ya have all the tools.
I just recomend
measuring the toe in on front before you do it then after
so you dont rip tire up going to get toe in reset as
the longer steering arms toe the car in a lot.

I agree with Lee, the S10 conversion works
perfect in my Vega. My car stops really well, even though
I haven't installed my adjustable proportioning
valve yet. My rear brakes do overpower the fronts a
little, but it stops great, even with manual brakes
(nothing power on my car except the engine, LOL). It
should stop even better once I install that valve.

My $0.02 for the day :)

Rob.

thanks, everyone says all these different s10
parts will work but no one says anything about any
other parts, I helped build 4 different camaros and
firebirds and varius other cars but am on my first h body,
so I am just learning as i go. I have pretty much
all the tools to accomplish just about anything and
will get proper parts to do any mods thanx for the
patience with all my stupid questions these are tricky
little cars but I'll learn.

Rob are you using a monza prop valve?
Oh and
you might try useing a larger wheel cylinder in there
rear to pump up preasure available to apply the rear
shoes.
So to up the preasure to push with out moving more
fluid you increase the diameter of rear wheel cylinders
and see if that helps.I used s10 rear end in my monza
and used manual wheel cylinders instead of power
version.
Good luck
Lee

beaker,
The only hard part is finding a square
file to re file the notch in the brake hose
bracket.
The brake hoses use are from a 76 only Nova, and they
work very well and if you think they will rub and get
hurt ,dont worry I drove mine for 7 months and pretty
much at least 50 miles a day or more 7 days a week ( I
work 2 jobs and at least 1 day a week I drive over 100
miles).
Thei conversion from Bob Gumm at www.v8monza.com is so
simple, clean spindle, tap in adaptersput he spindle on ball
joints tighten the nuts and install cotter pins.pack
wheel bearings install with new seal ,adjust the wheel
brgs ,install calipers and pads, hook up hoses and
bleed brakes.
Install the wheels and your
done.
And talk about stopping WOW.
Lee

Speaking of suspension, I am putting new tie-rod
ends on my Vega. I compared inner ends from a Vega and
a S-10. They physically look the same. Are they?
Also the S-10 ends were $1 cheaper each at Auto Zone.
I would have checked the outers too, but they
didn't have any Vega ends in stock.

Just
curious,

AJ

Lee, I have 4 wheel disc brakes on my Vega. I
used the factory Lincoln rear discs from the MKVI that
the rear came out of. The rear rotors are about 1
1/2" in diameter larger than the S10 fronts. I have a
Wilwood adjustable valve, I just haven't put it on
yet.

Rob.

Kenne-Bell used F-body spindles,rotors,&calipers
on their IMSA v6 Skyhawks. The ball joints had to be
machined to work w/ the F-body spindles.
I think Steve
Smith Motorsports had the book describing the machining
process.Don't know if it is still in print. But they may get you
a reprint.The hi-effort PS may work,not for
sure.Prob be best to have the st box rebuilt by Flaming
River to your spec's.Hope this helps
Frank
