My brake pedal goes to the floor to stop. I have
a 74 Vega GT Wagon with a stock 350 V8 and
shortened 77 Camaro rear end, 14" wheels all the way
around. I have an adjustable proportioning valve to
adjust the pressure to the front and/or rear brakes. I
installed a new master cylinder yesterday, 12/29/01. My
brake pedal still goes to the floor unless I pump the
brakes or unless I pull the emergency brake part way and
press the brake pedal. The mechanics working on my
brakes say I need to remove the manual proportioning
valve which I've used since 1980. The brakes worked
fine until last Sunday, 12/23 when I did some off road
driving and also applied my emergency brake. Now the
brakes still go all the way to the floor. I told the
mechanic to power bleed the system because I think there's
still air in the lines. All of my wheel cylinders
apprar to be working properly and the lines are clear.
Has anyone else with a non-stock rear-end had this
problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks and Happy New Year to
all! Brad
