Either will work.Consult your cam
manufacturer.
I have use sigle bar with ubolts type as they can
be had for very resonable prices but if we go past
double springs or over .675 lift we generally use a
double bar set up.

How did I know you would be the one to answer this! I was wondering how much you could have with the single bar(definatly cheaper). Thanks Lee, John

have you tried to change to 7/16 studs .I had the
same problem with the 400 with bowtie heads .I
switched to 7/16 studs and have been lucky and not had any
problems sense i dont even have to use any girdles at all
.good luck with your car.

I would use a double bar girdle. They are much
stronger than the single bar type. You can get them fairly
cheap at Herbert Performance

Only $99 and come with the adjustment
nuts.
