He is in a regular room!!!
I have been unable
to print out the most recent messages from everyone
in the club. I will print them out over the weekend
and read them to him. I
think that is what is
helping him so much. Such care from all over the
world!!!
He has been breathing on his own for a week
now.
He is so strong!!!
Sincerely,
Adrienne

Keep it going fellow members, we're bringin this guy
back.

John,
It is great that Lenny is doing so good.
Glad to hear that he is working so hard at coming
back. We are all behind him and support his efforts. We
hope he will be back turning wrenches on his Hbodys
when warm weather returns. GOD Bless and he is in our
prayers.
Dick

Hey Lenny, keep up the good progress. We're all
waiting for you to come back and join us here. I have
never met you personally, but from the posts I've read
from the people who have, it sounds like I would enjoy
knowing you. Stay strong, your family, friends, and cars
<grin> need you to pull through and surprise the
naysayers.
When you get back, I look forward to chatting
with you, reading your posts, and seeing your
projects.

Rob.

I did look at them last night, John. Very nice cars. I was impressed by the quality of workmanship that was put into them. Hopefully, he will be back and enjoying them soon.

Wow, Lenny.
You have 2 marvelous looking rides
there. The Killer Bee combo I'd say (yellow and black
attack). Keep up the dramatic improvement and you'll be
behind the wheels of those 2 beaut's in no time. Keep
plugging away, 1 day at a time.
Bryan
I can only
hope my rebuilt Buick 231 V6 will look as good and
perform as well as yours obviously do.

Update on Lenny

Postby h-bot » Tue Mar 05, 2002 8:44 am

Hi Everyone,
I honestly don't remember what
the most recent update was that I have sent you so if
I repeat myself, bear with me.
Lenny was moved
to a regular room this past Tuesday. He is on the
Hematology/Oncology Unit where he usually stays when he is in the
hospital.
He has been breathing on his own for over a week now
and is needing less oxygen assistance.
As far as
opening his eyes and movement. There really hasn't been
much of that lately. He does move his right hand and
arm alot and while he is
"sleeping" he'll jerk his
feet a little (kind of like what you do when you are
dreaming). When I touch his feet he responds and that is
good because before he would only respond if I was
putting lotion on his feet.
The drs. still are full of
negativity and are trying to discourage me, but I refuse to
give up, he is only 31 years old and deserves to be
here just as much as anyone.
Keep
praying!
Adrienne

Well folks, this is the latest. I'm going to see if
Adrienne will get me Lenny's address in the hospital so
cards can be sent directly to him there. Please though,
if you are going to make donations route them
through Doyle Coates so we can show a united effort to
support Lenny and Adrienne. Thank you all for your
prayers and good wishes, I know we are
helping.
Respectfully,
John Brantley

Update on Lenny

Hi everyone,
Well, I now know why Lenny has
not been doing very much lately. They have him on a
medication for seizures, Dylantin, which knocks you out.
the
recommended maximum dosage is 300 mg in a 22 hour period.
They were giving him 600 mg a day!!! I started asking
questions and asking to see his chart and low and behold
they lowered the dosage to 300 mg a day!! It pays to
ask questions.
Yesterday he was tired and didn;t
do very much (wonder why???)
I spoke with a
social worker about nursing home placement. I am
planning on setting him up at his parents' house and get
him home care, but until they can run his preapproved
application through the appropriate channels, he'll have to
go to a nursing home.
Tomorrow I should see a
difference in his movement and what not, I'll keep you all
posted.
Keep praying!
Adrienne

Got to watch
those guys with the Meds, eh?

Update on Lenny

I actually don;t know how to start this. I read
the final tally on the fund you guys had for Lenny
and am utterly amazed at how generous everyone
has
been. I especially appreciate you posting the info on
the club's message board and especially appreciate
Doyle acting as Trustee.
Doyle says he would like to
meet Lenny someday and I would love to meet all of
you. I think when Lenny wakes up from his "nap" and is
able to travel we just may take a cruise around the
country and stop off to meet some of you guys who were so
incredibly thoughtful and helpful. You guys have made this
unbearable time a little easier for me.
As for Lenny's
status. He is opening his eyes a little more than usual,
but there really hasn;t been much movement. I stayed
at the hospital with him on Friday night and he had
an uneventful night. Today however, wasn;t a great
day. I usually try to do some passive range of motion
with him so he can step on the gas pedal and turn the
wrenches again. And when I picked up his left leg leg his
eyes shot wide open he did this posturing thing (which
isn't good) and his mouth opened, that leads me to
believe he was in pain. I am wondering if maybe when the
nurses were moving him a muscle or something got pulled.
And then around 3:30 they came in to move him again
and when I came back in the room, he looked like he
was miserable, in pain, unhappy and just plain upset.
I was kind of concerned because he was posturing on
the right side to the extent that I could not get his
hand out of a fist no matter how hard I tried and that
signifies that there is something wrong. A Dr. came in and
I told him my fears and he did a little exam and
then left and then came back after a 1/2 hour or so,
he said that they were going to run some tests and
check out a few things to see if he maybe has an
infection or something.
I am getting discouraged I guess
because I have these expectations and they aren;t being
met in the time frame I had hoped. It is day 46 and
this is really starting to wear me down. You can only
sit next to a person who doesn't move or talk for so
long before it starts to depress you.
And now my
biggest problem is that they want to put him in a nursing
home and no nursing home is willing to take him. I
have the Senator working on it for me, but it doesn't
help my stress or depressionlevel very much.

Please keep the prayers coming we NEED them.
Thanks
for all of your help.
Adrienne

Well folks,
looks like it's time to start providing thoughts and
prayers for Adrienne as well as lenny. Don't give up, we
can only imagine difficult it must be waiting for
Lenny to make his next move towards being healthy. And
yse, it does get frustrating just waiting for
something to happen. But take heart, and hang in there, you
are doing so well and we all know how much you want
him back. Please take care of yourself.
