Truth in advertising?? Rear Springs

My GM parts catalogue refereneces the same part
number, 336877, for both the HW and RW rear spring. The
"HW" and "RW" are the production codes. Whatever that
is and why they are different I don't know. They are
the same part. From the spring chart the 336877
spring is the stiffer of the two rear springs available
for H-Bodies but the chart doesn't reference the
Spyder suspension option.
That's all I know.
Paul

Marco:

Where did your info come from?

My data came right from the original GM parts manual for 1975 to 1981.

Ok well since I'm not a magician,I'll
tell,lol.

All the spring rates are listed in my 'restoration
packet' I got from GM, for 1978 Monza's.
There were
14 different front springs!
How Moog and Trw
consolidated these into 4 different springs sounds like alot
of comprimising to me.

My 'guide' gives the RW spring the part number
336877 but the HW spring gets the part number 3988082.
Both have the same cut-off length, total coils, and
deflection rate. They are different in that the RW has a
.459 wire dia. (HW has a .499), the RW has a free
height of 14.11 (HW has 13.72), and the RW has a working
height of 10.24 @500 (the HW has 10.24 @ 450).
