frank,ive done this for 20 years and it doesnt
get
any easier.its all on how you handle there agression
and/or stupidity.it really depends on there attitude as
to how far i will go to help them.someone that
genuinely needs help,and is adult enough to say,i really
need help on this,i
will look in 50 countries to
find a part or whatever he needs.i especially go out
of my way to help the single woman with 3 kids or
whatever
stay away from pirates like firestone and midas.
i
know these places have to make a living,but $800
to
put brakes on a 87 cutlass??? come on.and were
talking just the friction material and new rotors.
on
the other hand,we do get our share of asswipes and
know it alls and people who have no business
under
the hood period.case in point,yesterday guy
comes
in about 10 minutes to close.he has a
93
bonneville,3.8.somehow while "checking the oil"
he "leaned" up
against some plastic fitting on the intake and broke it
off.the part in question is dealer only item,none of
which are open on saturday,i could tell this guy was
prob the owner or ceo of a large business.anyway,i
tell him,monday morning,go to gm and they will have
one.to which he says,but my cars needs fixed,NOW.
the
more i laughed the more pissed he got.he leaned up
against the counter and got his dockers dirty,so now he
is really pissed.i escorted him to the door and
heard him mumble as he got in his '02 lincoln
navigator.if i still had a garage,i would stick it to him with
no grease.but
i dont work on other peoples junk
just because of people like that.all they do is
bitch,so i tell them they can fix it themsleves.no way
could i work for auto zone and deal with guys like that
all day,i would go postal.i deal with mechanics all
day,which is a whole different thing than what the zone
guys have to put up with.the only thing mechanics want
is there part yesterday,which i can understand.ive
been on BOTH
SIDES of the counter

forgot to tell you we have a parts for
free
program for certain female customers.they have
to
"qualify" first,lol.only had one taker.that because i knew
her and didnt have the nuts to tell
strangers
about it,dont want to get sued!!!!lol
her boyfriend
asked her how she got a new battery
installed in her
car for free,plus a new ground cable?????? gee,i dont
know.lmao.......
