I guess it depends on what type of tranny you are
using. I'm using a 4 speed Saginaw in my Cosworth Vega
with a hydraulic clutch setup. I'm using a hydraulic
throwout bearing with a Tilton master cylinder. I can't
remember the brand of throwout bearing I'm using but it is
similar to a McCleod hydraulic throwout bearing.
Basically the throwout bearing and slave cylinder are one
so it makes it a real clean installation. If you
want I can look up the brand that I have when I go
home. The mounting of the master cylinder was fairly
straightforward (well the second time around anyway!) with a
simple "L bracket mounting the master cylinder to the
pedal assembly. I have power brakes so I had to mount
the master cylinder under the dash. The attachment
point for the master cylinder on the pedal is above the
pivot point of the pedal so everything tucks up nicely
under the dash. The reservoir is mounted in the engine
compartment. I managed to make the master cylinder mounting
bracket without drilling any holes which makes it a bolt
on. I did, however, have to move the pivot attachment
point on the pedal itself. If I tried to use the stock
pivot point, the pedal travel wouldn't have allowed the
clutch safety switch to activate and you need that to
race at the drag strips. Let me know if you have any
questions.
