Very interersting ! What did they come from,
how much underhood heat escapes, and does this heat end up in the cowl vents ?

The hood louvers are form a 280Z. They cooled the
engine down by at least 15 deg in stop and go traffic.
While sitting at a stop light, you can actually see 2
columns of heat waves being forced out of each vent. They
seem to be far enough forward on the hood that the hot
air doesn't come into the drivers compartment through
the cowl vents. I haven't noticed any temp. increase
inside. I had them on my 1st V-8 monza (maroon) and it
was the first thing I did when I took out the 262 and
put in the built 350 on my latest (orange) monza.
They are also located far enough to the sides that any
water (more so from washing the car than rain) that
comes in lands on the inner fender and not the engine.
I feel that they are well worth it. I've always
believed in putting only functional accessories on my
cars. Fake accessories just don't cut it, and I really
don't see many H body enthusiest putting fake stuf on
there cars. For instance, HUGE oversize chrome mufflers
and overkilled rear spoilers.(those cars can't even
go fast enough for the spoilers to work)! But thats
another topic by itself.

But they are great for hanging your laundry on,
or for your friends to use as a push bar to get you
to the side of the road...
