OK Gents and Ladies,
I took the old yeller
monza wagon to the track this weekend,18th, and let
her loose. I didnt go to the Rock (Rockingham
Dragway) they had some big dawgs there, so I went to a
local small track (www.710dragstrip.20m.com) and wow it
sorta surprised me! I had run at this track before but
they realy made a few good changes and I could tell.
The wagon went 8.98 on 195/70/13 Road Hugger tires,
never run that before tire spin, but what got me was
when I went back to the pits my brother was grinning
from ear to ear and said"Bud ya cleared the tires "
and showed me about 4-5inchs. Now crew I am no pro
but durn it felt good knowing for once she hooked and
booked for a ride that gets 30mpgs on the open highway.

I will get the headers, mounts and spindle
adapters going then a power trax unit. Polish the chrome
and wipe the dust off and see what she will do next.
Letting everyone know its still fun even on a
budget....
Chuck D.

Chuck, are you saying you pulled the front tires 4-5 inches off the ground with 195-70-13 rear tires? Clyde

My brother said I did the run down on the car
goes: 350 (40 over) 4speed saginaw (4cyl model) and I
took off in second gear as not to spin. No tach right
now msd box plug in messed up. I can say I felt the
pinion gear climb the ring about 3-4 teeth before she
launched in a hurry. What made it bad was I forgot to get
the time slip with my son and brother jigging me lol

New info Clyde checked with brother he said he
didnt see the right side from where he was but the left
did clear. I forgot the rest of the run down on the
wagon :
Autozone 350 crate 4bolt motor
'68 Quad
intake
Wolverine 280/280-440/440 cam
MSD 6AL
Carb '69 Impala
350 Quad
Clutch '75 Vette (was truck to
harsh)
Tranny '78 Monza Wagon 4 cyl saginaw
Bell Hous
Lakewood cable clutch for stock hook up
Shifter Hurst
Indy 4sp Quick Stick
Rear '78 stock 2.73 (changed
oil only)

The car has full interior sound
system heater core works, new ACC carpet, seats
recovered and with me in it weight wise around 2,850lbs.
The quad give me the best gas milage so far and with
the car set up like it is I say around 300 but no
more than 350hp. It has no power anything just under
the hood, all manual. I bought it from a junk yard
for $60 bucks with nothing there to go with. The guy
had just marked the windshield with the horrorfying
white X for crushing. There are pics or photos posted
in the pic club. I attended 2 Super Chevy shows with
it '96 and '98 class runner up in open class and
class winner in open class. She only gets a few blast
down the track to stretch her toes but mainly show and
go. She has duals run all the way out the back with
Flowmaster mufflers.

All in all I have around
$6000.00 tied up in her over the last 7 yrs and its about
time to get the yellow paint off and freshen up the
whole car for another 10 yr run. Crew there are some
H-Body cars here in this area but as for getting to them
you would have to come and get your fill before they
get crushed. Most of the things I need are hard to
get nose cne sections for the front but hey there are
Sunbirds, Vegas, Monzas all models, Olds Starfires.... The
guy who owns a lot of this stuff is ok by me but I
know them all.
So if any east coasters or closer
ppl need parts come check us out.
Chuck D.
PS
sorry about last post had IMs coming out everywhere lol
