I have several weeks of vacation coming and I
wouldn't mind a trip to Europe. I have long been wanting
to visit Scotland.

I hear the U-3503 was
raised in 1946 by the Swede Navy after being scuttled by
its crew. It is one of the revoloutionary type XXI
U-Boats of which very few exist. I heard it wason display
in Stockholm.

I understand it was used as a
research and development platform for many of theirlater
designs. It is said to have been the first boat capable of
staying submerged over one week.

I am disappointed
to hear the Tirpitz has been cut up. I wanted to at
least see it in person once. I heard it was still there
in 1996 and the government was urging the owners
(Sega Shipping) to demolish it.

That vessel was
the tomb for over 1,000 sailors. What a shame to
desecrate it. Even if they were on the wrong side...Robert

Hey offcource your so very welcome.
It would
be so nice to meet you.

Scotland yes me to,
Julie is going to Scotland or England to studdy this
comming fall for 5 months.
So I will se it then when I
visit her.

We are going to England or to be
correct London last week of may for a marridge we have
friends over there.

Also Julie is doing some
arkiological digging this summer not to far from Oslo.
We
can take you on a peronal tripp there.

I do
not know much about boats or submarines by I have
heard of that one in sweden.

I am not a big boat
man or war history man so I might be
misstaking.
If it was there in 1996 it is probalby there now
because if they removed something like that we would here
about it in the news. And I have not heard
anything.

If you heard the horror stories from the generation
who experienced WW2 you would not be ashamed.
Me I
did not experience it so I think it is a pease of
history to remeber not do do aigain.

I will check
about the Tirpitz and get back to you.

Erik

Robert, the wrong side was political. There was no"
wrong" side for the ground-pounders,tars,and
buzz-boys.These men were warriors and as such obeyed orders to do
the job at hand(the same as our GI's).Well,Xcept for
the SS extermination teams behind the lines; the
psuedo-samarais beheading civilians.
You have given me more
research to do,as I had not heard of U-3503 or the
Tripitz.
To raise the grave of 1000 brave sea-dogs to scrap
must be very hard on the families of these
Germans.
Thanx,Frank

Frank,
Have you seen some of the people they have pulled from peat bogs up around these locations?

Fascinating! Sometimes all this modern technology is really put to good use...Robert

Frank,
That is exactly how I see it. There
were those men who were in on all the evil doings, but
so many were fighting just to live another day and
get home to their families.

I have always
felt like warriors shared a bond of some sort that
went beyond a battle standard or a political
view.

I am sure all the recovery operations at the
Titanic's disaster site must be hard on some of those
familes too, even though many, many years have
passed.

History has much to teach us...Robert

Frank.

Yes we have archaeology digs in
Oslo to.

But my wife is digging out what seams
to be the oldes town in Norway so she is kind of re
writing Norwegina history.

The site she is digging
out is 120km south of Oslo and are of Viking
age.
It is a trade town with connections to Denmark,
Sweden, England and many more.

There was a program
on Dicovery some monts ago about Stone age people
and how they migrated up Europe and Norway.

It
is a very intresting thing archaeology.

If
your ever her I be glad to take you on a personal
feald tripp with my wife.

Here are the web
sites:

Italian village w/ water.Or the Babylonian batteries used
to electro-plate silver statues w/ gold,and,used to
stimulate muscles.Nero's steamed powered barge,too

the Vikings in North America, and another on their
voyages and conquests. The Norsemen conquered N. Africa
,Sicily, and even stormed the gates of Constantinople. For 4
centuries christian Europeans ended there nightly prayers
asking that they not be killed in their sleep by the
Norsemen.
