Check out ebay. try '8 track player' wait for a
NOS in box unit complete with installation
instructions and wiring harness. I've paid an average of $40
for 3 units. The old radios are adjustable to fit our
application. I've installed 2 Tenna units and one RCA into H
bodies. The track 'kachunk!' sounds just right. Beware
though, you'll begin collecting 8 track tapes. I'm at 350
tapes and still collecting!

Thanks, I'll try it to see what comes up...BTW my older brother and I still have quite a few tapes up in the closet including every Beatle album.

I just finished another 8 Track AM FM indash RCA
install in my Astre. The car came with the rear mounted
speaker so I used the rear right and left channel for the
front and rear speakers. I didn't want to cut up the
interior as it is fairly pristine. It sounds real good.
For fixing 8 track tapes see www.8trackheaven.com for
the various dissasembly procedures. There is a guy
who sells replacement pads, and I use a small piece
of aluminum duct tape for delaminated splice/channel
changer tape. All of my tapes are rebuilt and play well.
I once spent an hour rewinding a Queen tape back on
the reel to save it as the splice delamed and it
packed the cart before I realised it wasn't rewinding.
My 10 year old daughter loves riding Newark main
street in my Vega doing the head banging thing to
Bohemian Rhapsody. It's part of my keep the era alive
thing.

Thanks for the website...I'll check it out.
Sounds like you are doing more than me to preserve the
era...My best effort involves wearing my "70's
Preservation Society" T-shirt
that I got years ago from the
company that does all the TV music offers. It was in
their catalog.
