So it was never really answered, did they make a spyder coupe? And if so, did it have any of the spyder emblems, decals etc... Just curious, John

Hey John
The 76 did come with Spyder options,
but the 76 cars never had any "Spyder" detailing
(vinyl decals, lock and front facia emblems or horn
buttons), they didn't introduce the Spyder 'appearance'
package until the 77 model year. The 76 "Spyder
Equipment" was available on the 2+2 and the Towne Coupe with
Sport Equipment (no vinyl roof, no opera windows, etc).
The Spyder Equipment included the 2 bbl 2.3L L4
engine, floor console, large stabilizer bars, special
shocks, steel belted blackwall tires, wheel opening
mouldings, day/night inside mirror, special stitched
instrument pad with woodgrain inserts and "distinctive"
spyder identification (basically a "Spyder" script
emblem on the front fenders). They really didn't stand
out from the other Monza's available. Hope this
helps.
Bryan

spyder coupe?

What got my curiosity going is I went to one of
the local yards that I haven't been to in a long
time. The guy had a box loaded with emblems, name
plates, etc. So wouldn't you know it, I find a spyder
emblem. But the studs that hold it are on are diagonal,
not straight across like the ones I'm familiar
with. Also the the casting is kinda boxed off on the back
side as if it would mount on a grille.
The # cast
on the back is 373188. Other than the diferences on
the backside it's the same as the emblem on my 78.
Any clues??? John

That emblem might be from a Corvair.
