Just searching on ebay and found a monza GR. It is a notchback with the 2+2 frontend. I have never heard of this GR option. Have a look and post please. Maybe one of us will buy it!!!

MONZA GR???????

Maybe it was supposed to say 'GT'. Since the 'R' and 'T' are right next to each other it might be a simple typo.

Maybe it isn't a typo. Just looked at the pics of it and noticed it's got "G-R" on the back end. It could be something somebody before the current owner added.

MONZA GR???????

Not sure where the "GR" came from. This is a
coupe with the hatchback front end. This car was
offered in 1977 and 1978 as the Sport Coupe (a very nice
combo actually). According to Chevy lit, only the
hatchback was available in 76 with the quad headlights,
unless this was a special order or something, if that
was possible. I have a feeling that someone added a
GR emblem, wherever that came from.

He also says it is a 5.0 litre V8 which wasn't available till the 77 model year. So both the year and the GR don't match, this must be a 77 or 78 Monza Sport Coupe.

The 305 was offered in 1976, but only in California models. At least it doesn't have a Type R sticker on it....

Yes, you could order the Monza coupe with the 2+2
front end. This is a ligit OPTION and not relegated to
a few years. Nothing special, no big deal and only
rare in the sense that not many people opted for it.
The Chevy Monza Dealer Showroom Brochures have this
option listed. You can buy them on ebay.

just to keep this argument going , i notice in
the 77 dealer order guide , that if you ordered the
monza town coupe withe z60 option [sport equipment]
that you could specify z87 , which was called "sport
front end appearance"... what makes me think this is
the 4 lite front end is that you could not order ve5
[bumper rub strips] or v30 bumper guards] with this
package .nothing spoils a good argument like someone with
some facts... the other john b
