Of course you NOW have whiplash and will need
Xtended medical/mechanical care for yourself and your
H-body,right?Of course!Stupid female was probably on a cel ph,or
pushing the buttons on her stereo,or fixing her
make-up(interesting word ,there),or yelling at her
illegitimate-mix-breed- brat in the car-seat in the back,or yakking to
her gf w/ eye2eye contact(instead of keeping her eyes
on the road),or looking down & adjusting her latest
piercing.Right?
Oh,yeah!I see a complete re-paint,and some Xpensive
bolt-ons coming your way.
Now B4 I get slammed,I just
want all of you to know that many Police Dept's now
have blocks on their "accident" reports to reflect
such ???'s.These are known as the 'stupidity' or
'idiot' blocks for info. And these reports go to the Auto
insurance companies.
America's young women drivers have
become just as inane as their male counter-parts.Maybe
worse.Blame it on MTV.

HELP!!! I WAS JUST REARENDED ,75 MON

Postby h-bot » Sat Mar 16, 2002 12:22 am

And the car she was driving, a Sunbird, Not a
h-body , that would be a 1 in a billion.
I think she
slipped off the clutch, as we were both doing a right on
red as we both go to UNCW, and I heard a screach and
then BANG!!!. But she was only about 3-5 feet away so
it still pushed the metal bumper into the plastic
and hit the exhust pipe, so the plastic can't even be
reshaped as it has a burn mark on it.
And we all know
how rare the Monza is. The cop asked me 3 times what
kind of car it is. He then came from his car and said
"so you drive a Montana?" I was no, its a Monza. This
only got a blank stair from him. He then looks at the
car and sees the name Monza 2+2 on the side and go's
"Auhh, OK"
The girl then asks him to ask me to call
her so I don't have to go through her insurance
company, as the car is in her dads name, probably like the
insurance. I told the cop, "The bumper alone for this kinda
rare classic car go's for $500-1000 easy, let alone
painting it and installing it :)
He then looked at me
then the car, and was just, OK.

So is their any
place I can get a listing on how much the car is worth?
I know the insurance company will jerk me around, I
can already see them saying "A car this old is
probable only worth $500 or so." Then that is when I go
postal and start screaming "What motherfucker, what!!!!,
do you really want me to go postal, BITCH!!!"
I
know some people here have been in the same place I am
, how did you show them this is a RARE car and
worth a lot more than the average lay person would
know.
I just want them to write me a check and NOT put
TOTAL on the history. I would like to restore this car
and have some fun with it, but don't want the scralet
letter on it.

Someone e-mailed me saying they
have the whole rear, so hopefully I can get that cheap
enough to make work. Will call the girl tomorrow and
then the insurance companey after that.

Thanks
if you can help with the vaule of the car.

Unfortunately, you will get next to nothing from
an insurance company. Even if you had documentation
on the improvements you've made and receipts of
parts you've bought, some companies will still only
give you black book value, which may net you half a
grand if your lucky. Since H-Body parts aren't readily
made any longer, insurance companies cannot determine
just how expensive it would be for you to get these
parts 'cause they can't get a dollar figure to work
from. Hopefully you can scare the chick into settling
out-of-court/pocket and get a few extra
bucks.

As many of you may remember, we discussed this
insurance thing a while back. It is very unfortunate that
you will have a hard time gettting the insurance
company to agree that your car is worth a lot of money
after a accident occurs. The only way that I know of to
properly insure these cars is to get a special policy by
discussing it with your insurance agent BEFORE a accident.
You can find out what is available, like a "agreed
value" or "classic coverage" or whatever they want to
call it. It may limit how much you can drive it but
depending on what you get, it may work out for you. I have
my 75 Monza insured for $10,000 with State Farm
Insurance and that may even be low for it's condition, but
it's sure a whole lot more than what I would have got
with regular coverage if something happens. I was able
to get this coverage without having it
professionally appraised, I did have to send in pictures though.
If you think it is worth more then you can pay to
have it appraised and get it insured for that amount.
The important thing is to do this before you have to
make a claim, it is going to be a lot tougher
afterwards. Have as many receipts as you can, unfortunately
you are not going to be able to go to the local
newspaper and show your agent a lot of comparisons of
H-Bodies. Good luck, and be persistent. Clyde

When my silver spyder got backed into and the
driveres side fender got all creased and ugly, the
neighbors insurance was state farm.
The other side had
already been cobbled together from when I had that
unfortunate meeting with a sears van. So aside from the nice
paint and rust free body ,the car didnt look all that
mint,or like new.
I got $700 something bucks to fix
it with.
I thought that was within the range of a
decent repair, so I was satisfied.

Hopefully the
insurance company you deal with has a couple of 'cool'
inspectors.

A common occurence of a rear ended monza..is a
vertical crease in front of the wheel well on the
quarterpanel, just below the lower side window moulding.
Or
they crease just after the wheel well at the
beltline.

If yours didnt do this ,then your repair is way
less costly, and your car will be back to normal in no
time.

Well thats why I am trying to get some data on
how many Factroy V8 monzas from 75 are still on the
road.
If I need to get a apprisial I will. I went
to traderonline.com and the lowwest price for a 75
was $5500, and some were in the 10K-14K. But those
were full on drag cars with tub frames etc... But that
is better than nothing, so I will bring in as much
as I can get. And if you ever met me or my dad, you
would know we are not push overs when it comes to
insurance companies. They have done me and my family and
freinds wrong to many times. When we go to a insurance
company we walk in ready for war, not tea and
biscuits.

So if anybody knows where I can find some data on
these cars that would be great.

Thanks

I think I am lucky, It only masshed in the bumper
shocks and didn't get to the frame or metal
body.

But the girl has her insurance through State Farm
also, so what should I expect?

Thanks

I think it depends on the inspector more than the
insurance co.
As I posted before...I went to state farm
not knwing what to expect.
Actually I thought I'd
hear see the smirks, and get snide remarks about why I
would want to fix this thing, but the inspectors turned
out to be calm, regular old Joe's.
I was as
courteous as they were and waited in the waiting room, and
let them do there thing first before I went
berzerk.
It turns out, 700 was about what I
expected.

On the other hand though...shouldnt you go to the
best body shop you can find...the one you trust doing
the work, not just the most expenxsive,

first?

That way you'll know...what amount of dollars you
should be expecting,for the repair.
And you wont get
stuck in a repair shop thats 'working' with the
insurance co.

Could I PLEASE have the name and location of your
Agent I have State Farm also and when I had the
Specialty Insurance put on, they told me to get it
appraised, I didn't go to a professional appraiser, but I
did go to a Chrysler dealership and the owner himself
looked at it. He said he couldn't give me an accurate
Ap. cause he wasn,t an AMC expert. So he ask me what
I thought it was worth I told I would like $4500 he
said no problem cause he would try to sell a car like
that for 6500. Gave Ap. to S.F. came back from their
head apraiser saying car was worth 3000 cause a mint
AMX with 0 miles is worth 6000. Their apraiser uses
the same book I do and a mint 75 monza is only worth
3200 add 20 percent for V8. My Javelin in the same
book is 5900, so their screwing me. S.F. has my peccer
head neihbors 71 Chevy truck value at 9000. My agent
did go to bat for me and get me an extra 1000 the car
is very clean not mint, but I still have that just
reamed feeling Thanks much for any help.

It has a Spoiler on it(and the 75 didn't come
with one), has a 4bbl carb with a Z28 Alum.
Manifold, and dark tint on the window and CD player in the
dash, but other than that it is very stock. 262 V-8,
4-speed, 2+2.
Has a little rust here and there but
nothing to bad, and paint is kinda dull but its the
factory paint so I guess thats norm.

I am going to
high ball them around 5-7K as that is the average for
a 75 Monza from traderonline.
The biggest thing
I am trying to do is get enough money to fix it
RIGHT and not have the word TOTAL on the history. I
plan on keeping the car so the total would not really
matter but will kill me the next time someone does this,
and I know it will happen again.
In my 2 door
Buick LeSabre people dive to get out of my way, stop
10-20 feet ahead of me etc...
BUT in the monza its
like no sees me, someone at least everyweek, I am
serious, trys to T-bone me, rearend me, or something
REALLY bad. Am I the only one that has noticed
this??

There are some old pic's
at...

But I am still looking for production numbers broken
down by the engine and tran's choice. I know there
were around 50K 2+2's made in 75 but I know most were
4cyl because of the gas shortage etc...

So I am
going to call the girl after I get back from the store
and see what she thinks.
Thanks

Here are a few numbers which may help you in your
dealings with the insurance company. There were 66,615
Monza's built for the 1975 model year. Of that 41,658
were 4 cylinder models and only 24,957 cars featured
the V8. I have no breakdown of tranny options but
this should give you something.

As for
appraisals, my white 1980 V6 Spyder was recently appraised at
$6,500 Canadian (that would be approx. $4,200 U.S.). My
car is absolutely stock with only 45,000 original
KM's (28,000 miles) NO rust, bright paint and decals,
mint interior etc. It is a little less than I would
have liked, but it was more than I paid for, so I'm
happy. I'm not sure if this will help you but here you
go.
