Ask that same question at this
site:

<a href=http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/cosworthvegas target=new>http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/cosworthvegas</a>

The CVOA is putting together a group buy for hood
blankets, either molded or standard cutout. Standard cutout
(un molded) is going to be pretty cheap, with molded
(correct OEM) to be about $125, which is still pretty
cheap for OEM style/quality. They are very excited
about getting more people to sign up. Good
luck.

The stock hood blankets are dust catchers - road
dust then drops down on your motor when you slam the
hood. $125 for a piece of fiberglass is kind of
ridiculous to me - for that price you can buy enough
Thermotec blanket material to make a hood blanket.

Now that would be a matter of opinion. If you had
an original car restored or untouched or cared about
originality you would want an original style hood blanket, on
the other hand if you did not care about originality.
Or had a daily driver or a Junker and did not open
the hood to the public no hood blanket would be
needed, But if take it to car shows and I do not mean the
daily driver or Junker where a Thermo Tec blanket would
cost you points. Then a Thermo Tec blanket may be the
way to go. The last possible reason would be if your
car was highly modified and nothing looked original a
Thermo Tec blanket would be the way to go. In that case
$125.00 is very cheep remember these cars are not the
cookie cutter variety and to get anything made for them
cost money.

No, I'm definitely not into "original" and car
shows - no Vega is ever going to be worth big bucks, so
I try to ask the question, what is best? The latest
issue of C&D has an article on a 289 Cobra that cost
over a $100 thou., but if I had the car I would be
thinking LS1 motor, racing wheels, 6-spd., and brake
upgrade and that would decrease the value.

I am confused do you own a vega or a Cosworth? if
so why? Because they apparently are not worth
anything in your eyes. Couldn't your time be better spent
on your dream car and its appropriate club? Rather
then knocking our cars or the fact that people take
the time and effort to do a project like the hood
blanket? If you put in the time and effort for a project
like that you may understand the obstacles we face and
the cost involved to get someone to reproduce an item
sometime they are a little high priced. Then again if you
want a cookie cutter part get a cookie cutter car.
