Tight engine compartment and economy parts

I pulled my 151 4 cyl. out of my Olds Starfire and found a few interesting
things. Where the mechanical fuel pump sits it makes it almost impossible to
get to the starter wires. The motor mounts unbolted easily from under the car
(from the frame not the block), but insane on the passenger side. The
distributor cap is from what looks like a SB Chevy (along with the starter)
from where it is it looks like timing this car could require small hands or
getting under the car to time it. This car has alot of vacuum lines and weird
stuff (water heated intake manifold, exhaust gas into air cleaner thing,
carbon canister (gas tank vapor) thing. I want to keep the mileage but what do
I really not need.

The K-member has a weird setup. It has the standard middle bar for support but
it then has a web of metal from it coming diagonal from the center bar. This
make removing the starter, fuel pump and motor mounts alot harder. I don't see
what they support, maybe to stabize the front end, but they are a pain. Has
anyone removed them or modified them.
HELP!

Thanks

Brandon Sweat
