when i installed these i just cut a little away from the pad that's on the transmission cross member mount point so that they fit closer to the pinch seam and welded them in. it was painless. then boxed the front and rear part so no water could get in the frame stiffeners. i can take more pics if you need them

I was thinking about whether it would be a good idea to along its length where possible to weld a piece of angle to the subframe connector that fits up against the floor and with a piece of flat iron bolt the connector to the floor thus adding more attatching points and less strain on the welded joints.
Not saying this is a good idea, just a thought.

i should add more pics and will today, i did weld on the pinch weld. it gave a weld on all four side of the welding places. but I'm also putting in a roll bar and that should help alot. i add 1/8 plates in front of the trans mount pad that tie the rear section of the engine compartment to the main body and reinforced the rear control arm pad or mounting brackets alot more can be done on the rear-end mounts and should be done. i found mine where ripping apart and i had about 300 horses too the rear wheels on the old engine i plan to add another 150 horses to that before i add nitrous so it must be strong.ill put up some more pics latter tonight i have to finish my roll bar today.......george

It looks like these hang down pretty far, how about a side shot of the car? Of course it does provide a nice place to jack it up from. I imagine you could jack the whole side of the car up from there.

I did what you mentioned. I used round tube for my connectors and used a couple angles from tube to floor along the length of tube. Just welded them to floor pan. Worked great and added stiffness.

They have a video with the sub-frame connecters on a vega. They look pretty good. Think I'm gonna pick up a set of these.

rocko1159 wrote:Save the trouble of cutting the floor. I bought some subframe connectors from SSFab and they work fantastic. just gotta weld them in and thats it. no cutting at all. I put them on my 72 vega and my 74 vega wagon. Straight launch everytime! only $125 a piece.. that includes the shipping too.

here is there website if anyone wants to buy

I am interested in buying one to three sets of these for my collection but since this is an old forum post, wanted to contact SSFab prior to blindly sending money.

Does anyone know if these guys are still in business? I have used their website's "contact us" form a couple of times over the past month, tried calling the phone number on their site, and still cannot get a hold of anyone.
