75 vega Back Half Help

Postby vega 350 » Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:23 pm

Looks like everyone is on the subframe kick... On that note .I'm getting ready to backhalf my vega ,My question is Will 2x2 box work for subframe connectors?
I've seen people put 2x3 box flat to the floor. Any help will do .This is my first full build...

how big of rear tire do you want to use on your backhalf ?? S&W sell a kit for the vega/monza , it is 2x3 but they can do it in 1 5/8 round tube . the round tube i like better take up less of the floor and is just as strong .

instead of using 2x2 or 2x3 use either 1 1/2 x.120 tubing or 1 5/8 x.120 round tubing

Ive you do decide to go with square 2x2, go heavier than lighter. I tried to use .080 square tube and its just wimpy. Go .120.
Its easier to weld to and more forgiving to work with.

God bless
