I now have plenty of room to fit a 255/60/15 in the pics with room to spare. The trunk area looks stock, barely noticeable that anything was done back there, aside from the battery sticking out. I had no other choices to put it.

Glade to see things are going well, I like the Camaro tank in there. Can't wait to see pics of the car on the ground.

How did the 255/60/15 fit before the mini tub job? Would you call that setup "street able" ? And slightly off topic of the mini tub job, but how was the range of the front wheels in the car (205/60/15) ? Im going to be getting tires/rims soon and i really dig your stance 8) glad to see your car on the road :th:

The fit was tight but doable. I had to hammer the inner reinforcement some and I rolled the lip of the outer edge. I wasn't planning on doing the minitub and planned to drive it with the 255's and stock wheel wells.

Streetable? are you referring to the minitub job? It is totally streetable. I put 150 miles on the car with no problems with the tubs or tire size on the rear.

What are you referring to the "range" on the front tires? turning radius? If so, it's not to bad. Not really any worse than any other tire size when running the 2129 headers.

I don't get it..... why scary to cut up an h-body?? Its not like they are worth anything rust-free or not? I thought these were the kind of cars to cut up and make them work right with some HP?? Not trying to be a smart azz, just trying to understand, please explain.

It's so hard to find a nice clean rust free Vega, I didn't want to screw it up.

I am interested in doing the same thing to my 71 vega hatchback. Do you have any more photos of the project? I plan on using a trailer fender and cutting it down to the correct size. Any tips and suggestions will are appreciated. Thanks Jason.

Careful trimming and you can reuse the factory inner wheelwell. Take your time measuring, trimming, fitting. Its hard to explain what and how i did everything but I will try if you have any specific questions.

I've got 15,000 original miles on my car, original paint except roof and hood. Nothing was cut up putting in the smallblock or the 700r4, Or the rear end. I've been hesitant to start cutting into my car too. It's just so nice going to a car show and having a clean vega. I want to find another one to cut up and put a cage in. It's irritating how anal I get sometimes with where I take the car :bang: I know I know it's just a vega lol.

yeah, its just a vega, and outside a few hundred people, they are worth nothing :th: So get the sawsall out and cutoff wheels ... its the only way to make it good

it reminds me of when my friend found a rare hotwheel still in the package. Another guy who is a collector offered $50 for it. He said no, and tore it out of the box and gave it to his kid, and said 'what fun is it in the box? here, play with this'

you can guess the reaction... but i learned a valuable lesson that day. The vega is just metal, it has more scrap value with a cage and tubs :D

Im thinking of mini-tubbing my rust free Monza. Very scary decision!

Looks like it is coming along very nice. If a mini tub is done correctly you shouldn't hardly even notice that anything was done. It's a great way to stuff bigger tires in there and still retain that stock look.

Very nice job. I'd like to do the same thing. What scares me is that mine is not rust free. I'm afraid of what I'll find when I start ripping into it. The fender lips are rusted, and the front inner fenders are pretty much toast. Its a 72 Panel I bought and V-8'd in 78, and its been in the garage since 87.
