will the frame hold up?

Postby monzta » Fri Jun 26, 2009 8:19 pm

i was building a mild tbi 350 monza but, now ive changed my mind to a 355, 480 cammed, 650 double pumper, with headrers, I only have a front motor plate, then the tranny mount and im gonna try to get the torque arm on from my 200r4 to the rear. Will that be sufficient engine bracing? I really dont want to twist or break anything to soon!

i would worry more about the rearend and rear suspension mount points as the weak spots. this has been discussed alot on this forum. see back dated posts.. chevy art

Thanks chevyart, i have some small ladder bars i can use, i'll reinforce the rear area abit with some metal, i wasn't really thinkin slicks, probably 245/60 bfg radials for now, though in the future i'd probably want to go that route for the track.

look in the suspension section , there is some good ways to brace up and make the rear a little stronger

your gonna want some sort of lateral limiter for the motor, I wouldnt trust just the motorplate...

I got sidetracked w/ my rear suspension,
deviated from the norm.
no motorplate though,
BUT, I do have an eight point roll cage AND welded in subframe connectors.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

I was told not to use only the front motor plate without a mid mount,, the trans mount will move to much..
anyway that is what I was told.......

Hi,
i think your most important start is with the sub frame connecters.

ladder bars give a very rigid ride on the street. make sure your fillings are tight in your teeth art

Art,

Do you think these ladder bars would smooth the ride out any?

I have the race version with the solid ends for my car. I've contacted Alston and the parts for the urethane bushed rod ends can be purchased separate. I plan on changing the rod ends out when I get to that point in my build.
