Hatch removal - 72 Vega

Postby 72VegaChck » Sat May 08, 2010 4:06 pm

We are trying to remove the hatch from my 72 vega to send it off to the body man - Unfortunatly the ony rusted part of my baby - However, we are having difficulty removing the pins that attach it to the roof of the car? In our attempt at "persuasion" the pins have bent, but not even moved. Does anyone have any suggestions - from experience or not :D - on what we might be able to try to get this off?

THANKS YOU!

The original pins had little "ears" that prevented them from coming out. The trick was to push the ears in to get them to fit through the hinge. It's probably a moot point now since they are trashed. You can either continue to pound them out or try cutting the head off and pounding them in the other direction. If you need new pins contact me. cjbiagi@yahoo.com
