I could be mistaken. I saw a few cars out there with an 11.0 tech time. I thought the next major step was the rollcage? Is there something else that's at that time?

You are all right, 10.0 for the rollcage.

NHRA is as follows:

Roll bar 10.0-11.49 (unless you are running over 135 mph in which case you need a roll cage)

Roll Cage certified 9.99 and quicker

10-11.49 you just need the roll bar , and i think 5 point is the preferred , meaning you have a drivers door bar , the door bar on my gto is removable for street use

i know BMR has ran 9's with the 5 point , but no idea if they got a warning or not

i think a 6 point would be preferred over a 5 but 5 is all that is required

I didnt put in the side bars or rear crossbar because its a street car, not a drag car, but you have to order the extra kit to get those parts.

Hey megavega,
you said your green car has the CE cage right? when you bought it, were the rear tubes going rearward from the main hoop straight or bent when you bought the cage? I am supposed to pick up one from jegs on saturday....

rear tubes were straight.

what I did was use the front tubes(bent) and used them as my rear tubes to clear the back seat, have to keep the seat to haul my kid along....lol :D

p.s. saw your chute mount, dont be stingy with the pics of your build, it looks pretty nice from what little you could see in the pics....LOL!!! :th:

magnets at the main hoop and anything you can find at the front. i made a screw jack to hold the last on i did. i typically don't build halo type cages i like to do a one piece A-pilar bar but the guy i'm building this car for bought a jegster kit before he ever talked to me

thanks overkill, thats about what i was planning, i like the 1 support in the center, i was thinking one on each side but that may work better.

so i tried to pick up the CE cage kit at jegs but they did not have it so i reluctantly bought the jegster kit despite the warning from overkill, but i do not have a bender and i got a good discount (200 for the 12pt) and the cost of me bying tubing is not much less. I took the main hoop i got from chris alston and it was almost identical. when i got home i checked it for flat. good. i put it in the car and fit it in, the angles are perfect to the b pillars in the wagon, and exactly the right width for my application (i have no interior panels). it required no bending. the halo seems to be good as well, but have not fit it yet. I agree with overkill, the cage that i started with and then cut out was Chris alston - a non-halo and i like it better, had my situation been different, i would have gone that way again, but the budget dictated otherwise. the guy at jegs said they sell over 1000 cages a year

by the way, did you make the front clip for that car?

do you have any other picks of the build?

ll8, I just simply used a rachet strap up and over the roof to help hold the windshield side, then used a welding magnet on each back corner at the main hoop. I tacked each back corner then used a level on the bottom of my halo bar and then put 2 more tacks on the rear,I ended up using a small pece of pipe insultaion on halo to get it just right where I wanted it between the strap and the halo bar. I tucked the halo up to 1/4" from roof. After I tacked it up good, I cut the tacks on main hoop, slightly tilted the main hoop and halo forward and welded the tubes all the way around, then set back leveled up the hoop and welded it to the base. theres some pics in my project journal, you can see the straps going over roof.

Justins use of a stand for the front would work out just as good and probally less fooling around to get it where you wanted.

Nice use of the rachet straps, with 2 this creates a good reference plane, and nice trick to shim it up 1/4"

I know i asked for a reason, you and over kill have given me some good ideas. nice play on tipping the hoop forward to weld it up, did you use a mig or tig welder on the halo? I
