75' vega rear wheel well enlargement

Postby overkillrc » Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:54 pm

building a car for a guy and he's got 14" X 32" goodyear slick so needless to say the wheel wells are to small. here is how i fixed that right or wrong this is how i do it. i made the wheel opening 5 1/2" wider

cut a ginormous hole in the side:

cut 2 3/4" strip out front and rear and slide the old wheel well apart

leaving a gap

now make a patch panel to fill the gap

i'm just starting on the passenger side.

justin beautiful job. i guess you remembered the old saying: the whole is equal to the sum of its parts. how hard was it to fabricate that little center fill in piece. art

Very nice job...I did the simular work on my Vega...I can't believe the wheel openings weren't a little larger from the factory, but that's what us "car-crafters" do.

take a look at mine...http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e328/ ... Vega-pics/

Yeah, I only stretched it rearward 4 inches, the wheel base now is 99" from the stock 97, I have nearly two inches in front and behind the tire. These pictures show it higher then, I have a lower spring rate in it now so it's about two inches lower. The tire is only 29 x 12.5
Did you finish your car ? It has a good look to it, the wagons always looked badazz.

This is a pretty cool site, you see a lot of nice things guy have done, plus pick up some good tips.
