hey sportster my 67 nova has the cage welded in like that. i had it done by a chassis guy a long time ago and never had problems with nhra tech(its an 1090-1100 et car) if your car goes in the 9.90 or faster, then the chassis will need to be certified and there may be stricter rules and regs pertaining to the cage structures and fastening techniques.. what i did with mine, over and above what the chassis shop did, was i made matchingshaped 1/8 inch steel plates and put them on the underside of my stock steel floor and bolted them together, making like a sandwich with the bottom of cage, the floor of the car, and the new underside steel plates.i felt it added alot more strength to the bottom points of the roll cage. hope this info helps. good luck with your car art
