I had a double post the other day too. Weird. I also updated the cage pic and weight to reflect the latest design of the cage and subframe as I fabricated them...
The engine sits with the suspension centerline right around the front cyls. more like where they would be in a typical RWD car. Spencer is right about that; That's what makes weight distribution pretty challenging without making a pretty major revision to the engine location like cutting the firewall and moving everything back.

Wait, where did spencer's post go?

Not sure where my post went; I'm trying to remember what I said. I think the point of it was that on my drag car with it's motor back about 11" from stock, the #1 spark plug is just behind the centerline of the front spindle. Also I mentioned that the factory V8 H-body engine placement was farther forward than any other RWD vehicle that I know of. No wonder all the stock chassis V8 Vegas I build wouldn't hook up on the street.

spence you should have just moved your seat back a foot. you probably still could have reached the pedals and steering wheel. with info like that, you should make me your crew chief art

Trust me, Art; if I could move the seat back any farther I would. The horizontal cage bar across the main hoop is curved and offset back about 6" and the seat is hard up against it. I'm 6'1" and barely fit in the car.

I think they were actually just fabricated by somebody. I bought them from one of the other h-body guys on the list. I can't remember who though. They're made out of chromoly and pinched for the connection. I still have the Addco 1 1/8" bar I bought too, just in case. I don't have any experience with them.

I'm needing a hollow set up. I'm considering the nascar type bars.

Almost forgot this was here. 273 for firewall and floor? Wish I would have had that number before I did the cage. How much do you think the frame rails and new floor/firewall and tubs weigh?

The stock floor and firewall weighed 273?
