S-10 Brakes

I'm going to the bone yard tomorrow to look for
some S-10 brake parts. Is there any particular years
that I should look for? Also, has anyone installed
bucket seats in a 76 Vega from another type of car? What
cars would make good donors for bucket
seats?

Thanks,
John

John (vee8vega76), I believe any year S-10 2wd
will work. I have stuff from a '83 cutlass, which is
the same. I believe it's 78-83 Cutlass, Regal, Monte,
and Grand Prix that will work too. As for the seats,
I have Vega seats in mine, so I couldn't help
you.

Thanks for your reply AJ. I know there's been
alot of talk on the boards about the S-10 brake swap,
I just wasn't sure if the years made any
difference. I'll need to buy some of those bushings from
Roger.

Thanks Again,
John

I just finished the 5 lug swap, all you need is 76-80 monza backing plates with brakes, S-10 or Cutlass drums and 82-93 2wd s-10 axles. If you have any "?" email me at capriiii@yahoo.com

Why did you use 76-80 backing plates???
I thought you could just swap in drums and axles...I have a 75 town coupe. Just would like to know.

S-10 Brakes

75 monza's use the vega 9" backing plate while
the 76 to 80 monza's were upgraded to the larger
drums. These later drums are the same size as the s10
(and just about all midsize gm products) drums except
they are 4 lug and are minus any cooling fins so that
they clear the 13 inch rims. Using the 76 to 80
backing plates and hardware along with the s10 axles,
drums, and 5 lug rims offers 75 monza owners a simple
means of converting to the larger brakes and 5 lug
axles.

the 75 backing plates are for the small vega brakes, so they won't work for the 9 in. ones

I used the 7.5" differential from a 1976 V6
Sunbird. I put the GM Aluminum Drums from a Turbo Buick
Regal right on the Sunbrid 9.5" brakes and used the
S-10 axles without interference of anykind...Robert
