Jeff ,what do you have it on?
If you are running a large cam you will need to drop the number on
the power valve if its running too rich either at idle or all the
time.
In building most 4 barrel holleys they say put car in gear and go 2
in of vacuum below that but i have been going 4 to 4.5 in below idle
in gear vacuum reading with better results. The performance benefit of
going smaller in zero even on a small cu in engine.
If you are having problems email me and I'll try to help you work
through the problems.
AND whatch out for the 390 carbs as they have a F&*(-up metering
system in the metering block I prefer to use a the holley 465 cfm
vacuum secondary carb on small in. engines but they are hard to find
neew or used. The 450 has a slightly better metering block but can be
sucked dry(as in severe lean out on top end) and then you will get
lean misfire or detonation on top end and its hard to hear on top end
and that is bad as it breaks parts.
Email me a t <a href="/group/hboaclassified/post?protectID=112166234237248162247107200241114253078105139218183041">Xanadu4024@a...</a>
