I am installing a '95 350 in place of a 262 in a
'75 town coupe. The flywheel is very different than
one for the 95 eng which I have 2 use(1 piece rear
seal) I was planning on installing a gm performace
flywheel(153tooth) and using an 11" clutch. Has anyone ever
installed a different clutch style in a 1st design clutch
veh???

please e-mail me.

I also have a 75 monza that I upgraded from the
stock 91/4 inch clutch to a complete Hays 10 1/2 inch
setup. I used their 30lb steel flywheel (153 tooth) and
a street diaphram pressure plate and clutch. It
fits fine in the stock bellhousing, just be sure to
use a "short" throwout bearing. I don't think you can
use a 11 inch clutch as this requires a larger
flywheel (166 tooth?) which I don't believe will fit. If
you really need extra holding power you may want to
look into a Centerforce Dual Friction setup. I have
had no problem with the Hays street cutch, remember
this would be the same clutch taht would go into a
Camaro, Chevelle, etc. which are much heavier than a
Monza. If this clutch works in these heavier cars it
should have no problem in a light weight monza. I am not
real familiar with a 95 350, you would have to look
into what flywheel will bolt on to this. I don't know
if the bolt pattern on the newer engines is the same
as the older engines. Hope this helps. Clyde

Yes, I installed a larger flywheel and clutch in
mine and tossed the recessed Monza unit. Everything
fit inside the factory V8 bell housing. I would
suggest you take the bell housing and see if it will fit
over the new flywheel and clutch assembly. If it does,
your next concern will be the starter motor. If it
clears the bell housing then the only thing that could
possibly be a problem is whether it clears the uni-body or
not. If it does contact the uni-body, it is usually a
simple matter of grinding or cutting the offending
material away (as mentioned in Hooker Headers installation
instructions). I would add that once the material is removed, if
any spot welds were also removed that you get a MIG
welder and run a bead along the area to fuse the layers
of the uni-body back together to retain structural
integrity.

It's not as hard as it sounds, I didn't have to remove
any material to clear my starter, the flywheel fit,
as did the starter without any modifications.
Eventually, I replaced the bell housing with a Lakewood
scatter shield that I modified to accept the Monza clutch
fork and clutch cable.

Good Luck,
Bob Gumm

you`ll have to use the flywheel
from a 1988
and up camaro(153 tooths)
this flywheel will fit
in your monza
bellhousing
this will give you
a 10.5 inchs disc
(those newer engine requiresa
different
flywheel then old (1987 and down) 350)

i`m
100% sure that the 10.5 clutch fit fit
the monza
bellhousing `cause i have a
complete set-up from a 1978
1979 Spyder
and it`s a 10.5 disc(already
sold)

in a automatic trans application
a large
flywheel will fit a Monza body
very well (you may need
a bit of hammering in
the cowl section but
that`s all)
on my spyder i had to hammer a bit the
cowl dash
but when i made my aluminium motor mounts

i setted the engine back 1 inch
