What year monza is this? Does it have the
straight or curved panhard bar over the rearend? Duals are
the way to go but in order to get a decent exhaust
you should try to find a muffler shop that is patient
enough to get the pipes to fit over the rearend. It is
possible to get a true dual system and I have had several
on my 75 with the curved panhard bar. The best way
in my opinion is to run both pipes on the passenger
side up and over the rearend and mount both mufflers
side by side next to the gas tank, where the stock
muffler was. I am using two edebrock stainless steel
#5501 mufflers (2 1/4") and it works and sounds very
good. It was a bit of work to get the pipes over the
rear, it's tight! That's why you have to find a good
pipe bender with patience. I suppose another option
would be to run a single 2 1/2" or 3" pipe but I don't
really have any experience with doing this on a monza. I
think it's also possible that later monza's with the
straight panhard bar might be a little easier to route
over the rear but I stongly suggest putting the
mufflers next to the tank, there is just not enough ground
clearance if you install them under the rear seats where
duals are usually installed, you will end up scraping
them or even tearing them off, I know, I did it! Good
luck, Clyde
