A-ARM SWAP FOR MORE CASTER

You can swap the upper control arms side to side
and get about 9.5 degrees of caster. A small amount
of grinding needs to be done. I have done this to my
'78 Monza that I run at Bonneville. I also cut two
coils and use Moog upper offset bushings to restore the
camber.(the car is stable to well over 200 mph) Tom

A-ARM SWAP FOR MORE CASTER

Randy, what needs to be ground?I am about to
reinstall all of the a-arms and i am considering this
option,i am using the s-10 conversion so the spindles are
a bit taller.I also am hoping to sacrifice some of
the caster for a decent camber as 9.5 is way more
than i need for a street driven vehicle.I'd ideally
like to keep about 6.5 or so and .2 negative
camber(max negative)to promote a decent tire
wear/handling/stability front geometry.Will this be possible?I am
familiar with how the angles work and what they affect,i
just have never done a conversion like this and i am
being cautious.Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanx

D.C.

A-ARM SWAP FOR MORE CASTER

Hi, The grinding is minor and is just so you can
get full travel without any rubbing. I think I ground
some on the arm and some on the chassis. I wonder If
this might give you to much caster for the street as
your bump steer will probably be affected. My car is
so low that has less than two inches of travel
anyway. (racing only) Anyway you can convert back easily
if it does not work out. Tom
