Tim,

A three finger or borg&beck will
have way too much pressure to be used with the factory
clutch cable. You will distort the firewall where the
cable passes through, as well as having other problems
related to the overall geometry. You need to stick with a
mild diaphram PP, or switch to a hydraulic throwout
bearing. I am assuming that you know where the adjustment
is with the H body bellhousing, and how to perform
the adjustment.

Good luck,

Kevin

I agree with Kevin, you need to stick with a
diaphram type pressure plate. I used a complete Hays
setup, 30lb steel flywheel and 10 1/2" street clutch,
this is the same clutch assm that would be used on a
heavier Camaro or Chevelle and is more than adequate for
a light car like a Monza. If you did want to step
up to something heavier you may consider the
Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. This is still a diaphram
clutch but has much higher holding force and a light
pedal feel which should not strain the stock cable or
firewall. BTW, the correct way to adjust the clutch is with
the adjustable pivot on the top of the passenger side
of the bellhousing. Adjusting the cable is NOT the
way to get the correct pedal freeplay or desired gap
between the clutch disc and flywheel. Hope this helps.

check your firewall where the cable gose through.
the firewall is probly flexing to mutch and then the
cable dose not do any pulling. it is a comon problem
and is usualy overlooked. eventualy the firewall will
give way completly. the new presure plate you are
using probly requiers more presure to disingage it so
you will have to reienforce the firewall

In my opinon, you should always use the stock
10.5" Monza Diaphragm Clutch with the Clutch Cable. Be
sure you have at least one good ground strap from
engine to frame (to prevent the cable from acting as a
conductor) and ensure the cable/roller/pedals are properly
lubricaed...Robert

Whether you use a stock monza clutch or not, it
should be a diaphram type with the stock cable. This
will also prevent fire wall flex which some people
have experienced. I use a Hays 10.5" street clutch and
have had no problems. I also think that the
Centerforce Dual Friction clutch would also be a excellent
choice, although probably a little more expensive. Clyde

Also, I shift to neutral and let the clutch out at extended stops. This surely helps the firewall too...Robert
