Some useful calcs for tire/ratio and mph as found
in a Comp Cams book.
A.)equivalent gear
ratio:gear size needed to accomodate tire diam.
difference
(new tire diam divided by old diam) x current
ratio
ex:old tire=30",new tire=33",current rear
ratio=4.11
33 dvd by 30 x 4.11=4.52(new ratio needed)
B.)M.P.H.@ given rpm
(rpmx60 x 3.1416 x tire diam)dvd
by(current ratio x 63360)= mph
Ex.tre diam=30"
rear
ratio=4.11
rpm=3000
MPH=(3000 x 60 x 3.1416 x 30) dvd by (4.11 x
63360)= 65 mph
Was just going thru some of the
posts and thought these would help.
