i talked to don hardy's shop today, 1/29/01, and
they only have 12 bolt rear ends for the early style
vega. in other words , if you have a torque arm setup
in your car then they can't help you. but if you
have the early style rear end then they sell a 12 bolt
that will drop right in and it is shortened by 1".
doesn't require any modifications to the car , but they
say you can get a 9' slick under it. they do sell the
axles for doing your own rear end shorting , taking the
one inch off , but you have to come up with your own
housing. nor do they offer the dana 44 anymore.they do
also sell the complete bracket kit to install any
style rear end in a vega that you would want. i know of
a place over newengland way that has a 9 inch ford
under a vega complete they want $900 for it drum to
drum and it is under a non-tubbed vega, early
model/non torque arm car. good luck , mark aka vswv8
