Theres have been snowy greasy roads here in
wintery Rochester, for quite some time
now...Although,quite fortunately we've only seen 1/2 the snow
acumulation Buffalo has seen, some 70 miles west of here.
This can make for quite a strain on any
automobile...sub zero cold starts,in air packed with moisture,
belts with an icy glaze on them...oh and then the
salt/slush bath in the wheelwels, and where ever else the
stuff finds its way too..
and how about
driving..well,my friend..quite dangerous ,but really only to those
who taunt the icy conditions...really... the course
of my monza's changed, but for the better, one fateful
january morning years back..there i was...in my black
monza 2+2,with a swaped in '68 307 chevy motor,4speed
and no posi,or decent tread on my tires for that
matter..blipping the throttle to send the tail into little side
slips that I could counter with my steering wheel, that
was until one blip over did it just a bit...and
swoosh...there i was sliding into oncomming traffic..hopeing for
a curb and getting a '64 chrysler New Yorker of all
cars (the only bigger chrysler was a '63 or a
'65,lol).. in an instant..i was watching my passenger side
rear glass, still held together by its tinting..sliding
up that long green hood....It all occured at
relatively low speed and everyone was ok..
But that was
a lesson in what goes and what dosent in a monza on
the icy roads..I shouldve known better.
On the
other hand ..today was just about as bad as anyother
winter day, yet in the culdesac where my work is located
I managed to get the ass end out sideways yet get
into the driveway with the tail swinging wide the
other way..then having her pendulum back again, all the
while controlling her actual motion with the gas and
brake ,and I effortlessly driffted into the exact
,front row center parkings spot I wanted(the lot was
still mostly clear) All to the amazement of my other
early coworkers and without spilling a drop of the
coffee I had in a gas staion 'to-go' cup.
That I of
course was holding in my hand (would someone please
invent a coffee mug holder for the monza console?)Maybe
I'll never learn..lol
All headlights
working,
4 tires with equal tread
Fasten your
safetybelt,
and drive with your head!

P.S.
I think with this I'll start a column on this page
called "Misc. Ramblings..."
