Well, tom that may have been true at the get go,
but now that 99.8% of passenger cars on the road are
fwd models, the parts and labor are not that
outrageous at a fair shop.
in the snow here,(an only in
the snow) I would take afwd drive cavalier over a rwd
h body any day.
fwd offers greater stability
at highway speeds over all types of slippery
surfaces,than rwd.
That though, can also be bad though
too, inciting 'a false sence of security'. Or allowing the
vehicle to outdrive its braking capacity.
fwd drive
cars are also LESS rsponsive to multiple inputs such
as braking And turning. this usually results in
lockup and 'front end plow' ABS has come out to aid this
situation caused by the majority of wieght being placed
slightly aft of the front wheels.
The bottom line is
though..drive for the conditions and you'll Rarely have a
problem in any vehicle.
As for chains...were so used
to snow driving around here..im not sure there
needed.
Arent they really lumpy? does the whole car
vibrate ? the roads punch a suspention around enough over
here I'd hate to know what chains would do.lol
