Marco
I was touring your site, again, and read
that your black Spyder will become your "SuperCoupe"
and you want to drop in a 4-speed Saginaw. Well,
guess what I have in my Monza at present? You wouldn't
happen to have a good TH350 lying around anywhere do you
(and not the "leaky" one you presently have in it,
lol)? By the way, how is that project car coming along,
and is your new website going to have updates and new
pics as well? Looking forward to seeing the new
site.
Bryan

Cool, brian,,, I amtest running the new
connection, with this post...I'm surprised its
working...Theysaid not till monday evening, well cool...anyhow on the
tranny..
The leaky TH350 is all I have right now,but keep
in mind, you couldnt use it anyways, since the 231
engines need whats known as a Buick, olds pontiac pattern
bell housing. Chevy is different.
The same
identical tranny, only where it bolts to the engine, its
slightly different.
So keep this in mind when
buying/searching for a used tranny.
That 4 speed you
have....works great with a really low 2.29 rear axle,I works
like a 3speed overdrive would then.
If you want to
sell it,or swap it, let me know,it has a 3.50 1st gear
whereas a regular monza V8 4spd had 2.84 1st gears. I
know you dont want to keep the manual, but I have the
bellhousing for a buick.V6

Yeah Bill that seems to be my main problem,
getting one that is local. I should have just bought the
one off Jon in Utah as be had the entire thing, BOP
bellhousing, Monza torque arm mount, shifter, everything. I
didn't want to spend the extra cash at the time because
I had just bought a new rad for the car and had to
spend a night in a hotel because of it (I wanted to
keep the trip costs down). Now I am really regreting
it as I could have an Auto tranny now. I guess I
could get it shipped to me, but I don't want to
envision the cost of that. I guess I have to keep looking
local.

Hey Marco
Yeah Jon in Utah showed me the BOP
bellhousing (has a dip in the top of it rather than a full
circular pattern that connects to the engine) I need to
look for to connect to my Buick V6 engine.
I have
no problem letting you have my 4-speed cheap
(preferably for the same price I get an auto for so I don't
lose anything) if you want it, I just need to get the
auto tranny first so then I'll have something to make
my little beast go.

I was driving my 80 V6 auto car to work and
wondered if I'd like to swap it to a manual.
Its a big
maybe..If i pull the tranny out...I might as well rebuild
the motor, and thats not financially possible right
now.
Also my tranny sometimes goes into neutral for a
second,when it's stopped at a light. Its a wierd problem,but
it dosent happen alot.So I just let it happen. I
guess it could use a rebuild.

"Have you ever had to make up your
mind"

Hehe, decisions, decisions eh Marco? I've actually got
Jon in Utah looking into a cost of shipping the auto
tranny to me, the cheapest way. Not that UI'll do it,
but just wanted to get a rough idea, to see if it is
at all feasible.
That's weird tranny happeneing
you have, shifting to Neutral every once in a while.
I assume it kicks right back into drive before you
try to step on the gas though. Forgive my ignorance,
but what does a tranny rebuild cost these days, what
is involved? (just thinking out loud here,
rebuilding a tranny compared to shipping one from
Utah)

you want,i will dig out his information. His company
is home based and called "Tonys Racing
Transmissions".This guy is an artist with automatic
