Where else other than the area by the windshield
on the drivers side can the VIN be found on the 1980
Monzas?DMV had a problem today(see my post on GM HBODYS) and
sent me home without the needed inspection.I see a
partial VIN on the Body by fisher tag .Where else is the
VIN stamped on the car?AZ requires the VIN be stamped
in 2 places and someone took the sticker off the
drivers door.ANY IDEAS????? Email me at pirate@c2i2.com
if you know anything. Thanks! Bill@GM HIGH
PERFORMANCE

Hey, you should have a VIN pad under the hood. It
will be located on the driver side above the firewall
on the flat part . (rain gutter and Leaf catcher
area ). At least that is where mine is on my 77'. good
luck

Just a quick update. The VIN# was found on the
passenger side spring tower(under the fender) about 1 inch
up from the bottom edge of the lip of the
tower, facing the caliper mounting position.Everything went
smooth and they issued me an Az title in my name.Let the
fun begin!:):):):)Looks like we will be building a
custom 331 cubic inch SBC for the Ca Monza. The tranny
will be a turbo350 with a 2500 stall converter.I will
need to install some type of frame connectors as I
dont want to twist the body in two.Its too nice to
tear it up.I will post updates occasionally!!!!!Bill

Hmm, I have always wondered where the other
numbers were...Now I'm wondering if the parts cars I sent
to the crusher without any tags actually Did get
logged in as scrapped..
I have some titles and vin
numbers left incase I ever wanted to 'rebuild' the
scrapped cars with a new unitbody.
Hmm, guess I'll
find out when I try to register them..

The only time it appears to matter is when a car
is taken from one state to another. As the car enters
the 'new" state it might have to be inspected as mine
was.In my case it was alot of time spent for a car that
will turn right around and be back in Ca within the
next few months.the whole thing happened because the
Federal ID sticker on the driver door had been removed
for a repaint of the stock colors on the car.I have
been told that the Vin # is also on the cowl near the
hood rubber seal,on both shock towers ,on the body by
fisher tag,and somewhere in the driver side rear wheel
well.I found the body by fisher tag,the passenger shock
tower and the tag at the base of the widshield only so
far. I plan to look in the other areas in the near
future and will post an update.Bill in Az...

The only way you can avoid that is to cut the cars up for scrap metal type yards and not the usual wrecking yards that most people will junk their cars at i believe.
